Not at all, there is very little cost to adopt a child through Michigan’s foster care system. The only costs are around a total of $250 for a court filing and new Michigan birth certificate.

No, single individuals can adopt a child. However, unmarried couples, regardless of sexual orientation, have to choose one person to legally adopt the child per current Michigan laws.
